Who we are

CheckrideBuddy is aviation training software for pilots preparing for FAA practical tests and for the flight instructors who teach them. Questions about this policy go to support@checkridebuddy.com.

What we collect

• Account information. Your email address and a password, which is stored only as a salted hash. We never see your password.
• Training records you create. Practice sessions, answers, scores, debriefs, and, for instructors, the student roster, lesson and flight records you enter.
• Voice audio, during a practice oral. Your speech is streamed to the AI examiner so it can respond. It is used to run and grade that session.
• Payment information, if you subscribe. Card details go directly to our payment processor. They never touch our servers.
• Basic technical data. Standard web server logs such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps.

Who processes it

We use a small number of vendors, each for one job:

• Supabase — account authentication, database, and file storage.
• OpenAI — the voice AI examiner that conducts and grades practice orals.
• Stripe — subscription payments and billing.
• Vercel — website and application hosting.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Instructor and student data

Instructor tools let a flight instructor record student progress. That information belongs to the instructor who entered it, is visible only to that instructor's account, and is not shared with other instructors or schools. Instructors are responsible for telling their students what they record.

Offline use

Some tools, including the instructor application, are designed to work without a network connection. Those store their data in your own browser on your device. It stays there until you sign out, clear it, or sync it to your account.

Keeping and deleting data

We keep your data while your account is open. Email support@checkridebuddy.com to get a copy of your data or to have your account and its records deleted. We action deletion requests within 30 days.

Children

CheckrideBuddy is intended for people pursuing FAA pilot certificates and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and, where the change affects how we handle your data, notify account holders by email.
